Feeling Kinda' Blue...

Well, the front door anyways!! :)

Oh, how I have wanted to do this for awhile and I finally got around to it.  You see, we live in a community that has an HOA and we are 'governed' as to paint colors and landscaping outside.  So, I had noticed that some of the front doors were colors other than what we had (dark brown) and got that 'front door jealousy' thing going...

Now I had seen these ads for Behr 'Marquee' paint - claiming that it was fade and dirt resistant.  For those of you who know Southern California, it's sunny and dusty!! So, I was all in for trying this out!!
**(Please note - I am in NO way affiliated with Hope Depot or Behr - no compensation)**

I chose 'Harbor' as the color and here she is!

Pretty, right?? :)  It makes me happy and we can't stop saying how GOOD it looks!!

We (I had my trusty helper hubby) prepped the door and got to work.  Teamwork is always a win-win.

You can see the original color (blah) and the back of the door was white.  From the inside of the house was this big expanse of white!  So we painted the back of the door as well. :)

In love!!  Makes the whole entrance 'pop'!  It took 2 coats for both sides of the door but it covers really well.  Now if the paint lives up to her claims, there will be a painted garage door and trim soon too...
I'll let you know.

Have you painted anything lately??

Time for a Change...

About time I got around to posting some stuff huh?? :)

We moved into our house almost 4 years ago.  Not a lot has changed - unless you count the 'rearranging' that I do from time to time.  But the main thing that has changed is the interior color.  I always wanted a RED kitchen.  Soooo, I hired someone just after we moved in to do just that.  (I didn't have the confidence to paint on my own...oh boy, has THAT changed!)  I loved it - for awhile - and then realized, it was too dark and really swallowed all the light over on that side of the room.

The other thing I did not realize was that the builder had painted flat paint right over the sheetrock - no primer, no nothin'!  Yep, learned that one the hard way!  As in, I painted our daughter's room (the first room I painted on my own) and went through 2!!!! gallons of paint!! The poor dry walls sucked everything I put on them!!  Lesson learned...prime FIRST!

People have been asking me to post pictures of things that I have done around here - creative things, 'homemaking' things - so I'll start with the kitchen.  I had a great helper, Chelsie :), and away we went priming and painting the kitchen and attached family room.  I had 'discovered' the blog www.centsationalgirl.com and kept noticing the color she painted her kitchen and family room.  'Camouflage' from www.benjaminmoore.com

I noticed how in different light it changed and since our rooms face south, we get light from morning until night.  I really like how it turned out.  The main part of the room is 'Camouflage', the kitchen island and the recess for the T.V. are painted 'Alligator' and the main hallway to the front door and the hallway to the garage are 'Old Prairie'.

I'll try and post the panorama picture Kevin took of the space.  You'll like it!  Well, I know I do!!

Have a great Sunday!!

Happy Birthday!! A Good Place to Start...

I've been toying with this idea of blogging again...and so here I am...once again. :)

And what better day to start than today.  Yep, it's my birthday...40 something :) and good with it!  But also a good day to start up again in the blog world.

Of course, we are not in Maine anymore!  California has been home for four years now and I am 'planning' on making this a chronicle of everyday adventures, random thoughts and ideas, pictures, 're-imaging' things and life experiences.

Hope you'll join me as I try to keep up with life, a husband, two kids and a dog!  Never a dull moment!! :)
